1. Your Right to Delete

You have the right to request the permanent deletion of your TMVC account at any time. This action is irreversible and will result in the removal of your personal information and content from our active systems, subject to the exceptions outlined below.

2. How to Request Account Deletion

We offer two simple methods for requesting account deletion:

Method 1: Self-Service Deletion (Recommended)

1. Log in to your TMVC account.

2. Navigate to your Account Settings or Profile Settings.

3. Look for the "Delete Account" or "Close Account" option.

4. Follow the on-screen prompts to confirm your identity and your decision to delete the account.

5. Click the final "Confirm Deletion" button.

Method 2: Request via Email

1. Send an email from the email address associated with your TMVC account to: mascotvolunteers@outlook.com

2. Use the subject line: "REQUEST FOR ACCOUNT DELETION"

3. In the body of the email, clearly state your full name and the email address linked to your TMVC account.

4. We will process your request and send you a confirmation email within 5-7 business days.

3. Data Deletion Process

Upon receiving a valid deletion request, we will undertake the following steps:

1. Identity Verification: We may take steps to verify your identity to prevent fraudulent or unauthorized deletion requests.

2. Deactivation (Cooling-Off Period): Your account will be temporarily deactivated for a period of 7 days. During this time, you can log back in to cancel the deletion request if you change your mind.

3. Permanent Deletion: After the cooling-off period, if the request is not cancelled, we will permanently delete your account and most associated data from our active systems.

4. What Data is Deleted?

Upon permanent deletion, the following information will be removed from our active databases:

• Profile Information: Name, username, profile picture, cover photo, bio, and other personal details.

• Account Credentials: Your email address and password.

• User-Generated Content: All posts, comments, messages, forum topics, and replies you have created.

• Social Connections: Your friends, group memberships, followers, and other social connections.

• Activity Logs: Your login history, activity records, and engagement metrics.

• Settings and Preferences: Your saved settings, notification preferences, and personalization data.

5. What Data is Retained?

Due to legal, regulatory, or legitimate business reasons, certain data may be retained even after account deletion. This includes:

• Legal and Regulatory Compliance: Information we are required to retain by applicable laws in Nigeria, such as records of transactions, disputes, or investigations. This data is stored in a secure, isolated manner and is not accessible for any other purpose.

• Fraud and Abuse Prevention: Aggregated, anonymized data that is no longer linked to your identity may be retained for security analysis, fraud prevention, and to improve platform integrity.

• Anonymized Analytics: Statistical, aggregated, or anonymized data that does not identify you personally may be retained for research and analytical purposes.

• Deferred Content: If you have posted content in public areas, some metadata (like timestamps or the fact that a deleted user existed) may remain in cached or archived versions of the page.

6. Consequences of Deletion

Please carefully consider the following consequences before proceeding with account deletion:

• Permanent Loss: Your account, profile, and all content you have created will be permanently and irrevocably removed. This cannot be undone.

• Loss of Access: You will lose access to all TMVC services, features, and community groups.

• Loss of Content: Any content you have shared on the platform that has been reposted or saved by other users will remain in their possession, but your authorship will be anonymized. We will make reasonable efforts to remove your personal attribution from such content.

• Username Availability: Your username will become available for other users to claim in the future.

7. Data Retention Period

We retain your personal data only for as long as is necessary for the purposes set out in this policy, unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law (such as tax, accounting, or other legal requirements). No purpose will require us to keep your data for longer than is strictly necessary.
